My Story

Hello,

I am Brittney Phillips. I am a Photographer, Graphic Designer, wife, and adventurous soul.

For me art is how I process the world around me and photography and design are my chosen mediums. I find beauty in simplicity, taking what is complex and
jumbled and creating something new that just makes sense. You can see this in most of my work as I create clean compositions with negative space and somewhat muted but contrasting color palettes.

I attended and graduated from the Visual Arts Department at John Brown University in May 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Graphic Design and a Minor in Illustration. In order to complete my degree a year early I studied abroad in New Zealand during my last semester. This is where I fell in love with photography as the topics of study included Photography Fundamentals, Photography in social Context, Photojournalism, and Graphic Design in Social Context. I spent the summer working with a group to create a new brand and photo library for a local conservation effort in Raglan, NZ.

In August 2016 I married the love of my life and followed him to a job In Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where the population consists of military families, Filipinos and Jamaicans , Cuban refugees, and 5 restaurants. Not exactly the prime place to launch my graphic design career, or so I thought. I displayed my Design and Photography work at a quarterly art fair and the response was overwhelming. Ever since, I have been working as a freelance Graphic Designer and Photographer. My work experience for personal and commercial clients has been very diverse as all walks of life pass through GTMO.

While I spend most of my time in GTMO, I also accept remote jobs and am willing to travel on location, wherever my work may take me. I love this journey that I am on, and I would love to help you progress and capture your journey.
